We settle ourselves down and study the pizza menu. Martin and Gianluca have pizza with arugula. At da Sandro, the pizza with arugula also sports big slices of fresh whole tomatoes. Pasqualina has a pizza with spinach and something else that I do not recognize. She starts to tell me what it is, but we are distracted by our friends, the strolling musicians. It is only long after Gianluca, Pasqualina and Maria Luna have left that I realize Pasqualina never told me what the mystery ingredient was. I have a pizza with mozzarella di bufala and funghi. Gianluca has a coke and the rest of us drink water. After we eat, we sit with Pasqualina while she has a coffee; Gianluca and Maria Luna walk down to a nearby ice cream stand to buy gelato; they come back with a cup holding pistachio, coconut and passion fruit gelato. Wow!
Maria Luna is adorable with very fair almost porcelain skin, big eyes and soft brown hair. She is very delicate feminine looking but, according to Pasqualina, she has an iron will and a mind of her own. After lunch we walk home and visit some more. We have known Pasqualina for nearly twenty years, and have known Gianluca for almost as long as Pasqualina has known him. It is delightful to see them on these visits and to watch them parenting their adorable little girl.
Just as they are about to leave the door bell rings. It is someone who wants to know what time tomorrow we are leaving. BUT we are not leaving tomorrow; we are leaving on Monday. It seems the landlady has booked someone starting tomorrow. Gianluca helps us with the translating, and suggests that the woman at the door call Housedeal, which might not be easy as no one is ever in the office over the weekend. Martin feels that not only do we have the paper work to prove we have rented through Monday, but we are here and unpacked, and they will have to pack us up and find us a place to stay - and not just us - our friends. It seems as though it might be easier for the next people - whoever they are - to spend a night in one of the other apartments owned by the family or in a hotel. Martin is completely relaxed about this, but I feel very tense. They say possession is nine-tenths of the law, and we certainly are currently in possession of the apartment at the moment, but I wonder if I should be nervous about going out.
